Day 12 · Evening Devotional

The Peace of Christ

Scripture

"And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful." — Colossians 3:15 (WEB)

Teaching

Peace is not the absence of storms — it is the presence of Christ in the midst of them. Jesus slept through a storm that terrified seasoned fishermen. His peace was not based on the absence of danger but on His relationship with the Father. Paul instructs us to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts. The word "rule" means to act as an umpire — letting peace make the final call on what we accept and reject in our thought life. Tonight, let Christ's peace be the umpire. When anxious thoughts arise, let peace call them out. When fear tries to enter, let peace shut the door. You have been called to peace.
Reflection

What thoughts tend to steal your peace at bedtime? How can you let Christ's peace "rule" over them?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, let Your peace rule in my heart tonight. Be the umpire of my thoughts. Cast out anxiety and fear. Fill me with the deep, abiding peace that only You can give. Amen.

✦ Declaration

The peace of Christ rules in my heart. I am called to peace. Anxiety and fear have no place in my life. I rest in the perfect peace of Jesus.
