A Servant's Heart
"For the Son of Man also came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." — Mark 10:45 (WEB)
Jesus — the King of Kings — came as a servant. He washed His disciples' feet. He healed the sick. He fed the hungry. He touched the untouchable. And ultimately, He laid down His life for the world. True greatness in God's Kingdom is measured not by how many serve you but by how many you serve. Fasting humbles us and creates a servant's heart. When we voluntarily deny ourselves, we become more aware of others' needs and more willing to meet them. Today, look for opportunities to serve — at home, at work, in your community. Let your fast produce not only spiritual growth but practical love in action.
The Finished Work
"When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished." Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit." — John 19:30 (WEB)
Before you sleep tonight, remember: it is finished. The work of salvation is complete. The price for your sin has been paid in full. The victory over death, hell, and the grave has been won. There is nothing more to add. You do not need to earn God's love through this fast. You do not need to prove your worth through spiritual performance. Christ has done it all. Your fast is a response to His love, not a requirement for it. Rest in the finished work of Jesus tonight. Nothing more is required of you. Simply receive, rest, and be grateful.
